So, I following a bookstagram post I saw recently by the awesome @charscozycorner, I decided to step out of the comfort of my delulu and count exactly how many books I have on my physical TBR. Gentle reader, I have 167 books, that I own and have not read!!
And suddenly it all became clear as to why I need yet another bookcase.
To add further shame to this revelation, my reading journal I had spent ages setting up (ADHD hyperfocus for the win), hasn’t been filled in, and that 25 books in 2025 looks hella sparse.

What’s a girl to do? She will challenge herself to 75 Booked, is what! I’ve been inspired by @emilypaigebooks, and today is day 1 for me. What does it involve?
Here are the few simple rules:
• Read 2× 45-minute sessions a day
• One session needs to not be in bed
• Drink a bottle of water during each session
• Log your reading daily in a physical journal
• No buying new books!!!! (borrow, second-hand, or already owned only! – I will try to stick to my TBR or the library)
My biggest hurdle? That buying ban, and during my birthday month in January when I need every scarp of dopamine I can get. I’m going to need all my book besties for moral support!
But, why though?
I’m hoping that by slowing down and actually showing some love to the books I own, I will connect more with what I’m reading as opposed to simply consuming a book and moving on the the next one. I want to annotate more and actually think critically about what I’m reading in order to inform and shape the way I write. I’m at the very beginning of my writing journey, so in order to move things along, I need to discern what I like/dislike, how literary devices either move a story along or weigh down the pacing. If I am to write with intention, the way I read should reflect this also.
I’ll be posting updates on here and on my instagram, so wish me luck and stay tuned!! If you’d like to join me for 75 days (and maybe beyond) of intentional reading, get in touch. The buying ban alone will absolutely require a support group of some kind!
